Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 now check your heart rate every five seconds, and that matters more than the familiar design
The 2026 Apple Watches look a lot like the 2025 Apple Watches. Apple spent most of this generation somewhere less visible. Series 12 and Ultra 4 now sample heart rate every five seconds, collect substantially more heart-rate variability data and turn that history into a daily readiness score. Ultra 4 also gains eight hours of rated everyday battery life. The shape barely changes. The frequency with which the watch observes its wearer does.
